Phillip’s hospitality design career began unofficially during his days with the rockwellgroup, where, while working a "day job" as Junior Architect he spent nights as a waiter and bartender.
Over the next decade he worked across disciplines like sustainable architecture, exhibition design, and interactive media, but inevitably returned to his early interests: design and hospitality--putting these together during an era when the food and hotel world was gaining momentum towards its current renaissance.
His work for firms like Yabu Pushelberg introduced him to the opportunities and challenges of working globally on luxury projects in places like Panama, India, China and Indonesia.
As Design Director for AvroKO in New York he led that firm’s expansion into hotel design, beginning with their first hotel project, the landmark Central Park location for the new Starwood Capital brand, 1 Hotel.
In 2015, after eighteen years in New York, he relocated with his wife and daughter to Bangkok to direct AvroKO’s work across the region as their Chief Creative Officer.
